Normal labour:
the process by which spontaneous regular painful uterine contraction bring about effacement and dilatation of the cervix and
descend of head in a vertex position lead to expulsion of fetus and the placenta..

The onset of labour
Regular contraction bring about progressive cervical change

Stage of labour
3 stages:
1. Stage of dilatation; from diagnosis of labour to full dilatation of cervix
2. Stage of expulsion of fetus; last from full dilatation of cervis until fetus is born
3. Lasts from birth of child until placenta and membranes are delivered and uterus has retracted firmly to compress the uterine blood sinuses



1st stage divide into latent and active phase
Active phase starts when 3-4cm opening
Cervix becomes fully effaced
Latent phase: 3@ 8 jam, shorter in multiparous women

Active phase:
end latent and full dilatation
last 2-6 jam
Dilation rate: 1cm per hour @ more

2nd stage
From dilatation of cervix to delivery of fetus
2phases
# PASSIVE: no maternal urge to push and fetal head still relative high in pelvis
# ACTIVE: maternal urge to push because fetal head is low
no longer than 2hours in primid and 1 hours in multipara
-Epidural administer

3rd stage
from delivery of fetus until placenta delivery
Placenta delivered within few minutes of birth of the baby
should less than 30mins

Cavity uterus become smaller and area of placenta site is diminish
Separation of placenta through spongy layer of decidual basalis
Further uterine contraction expel placenta from upper segment into lower segment and vaginal vault
Retraction of uterus compress uterine sinuses
Uterus can be felt as a hard round ball, top of uterus just below the umbilicus
Normal less than 500 ml blood loss

Signs of placental separation:
1. Lengthenng of cord
2. Gush of blood from vagina
3. Uterus rises and contracts in abdomen
4. Uterus ubecomes hard and globular

Mechanism of labour:
EDFIERED

1. Engagement
2. Descent
3. Flexion
4. Internal rotation
5. Extension
6. Restitution
7. External rotation
8. Delivery

(ni sume position baby tatkala di dalam perut ibu hingga dilahirkan ke dunia).Sama untuk sume baby yg dilahirkan secara normal
Masa aku pergi labour room. ada la tgk position ni sume.
